About Willow Lane

Built by a dentist who was tired of watching patients brace themselves

Dr. Maren Holt, DDS, founder

For ten years, Dr. Maren Holt practiced exactly the way the industry taught her to: eight-minute hygiene checks, four chairs running at once, treatment plans delivered while the next patient waited. She was good at it. She also watched, every single day, as people gripped armrests, apologized for being nervous, and postponed care they needed because the experience itself was the obstacle.

Willow Lane opened in 2022 as the counter-argument. One dentist. Fewer patients per day. Rooms with real windows and morning light. Appointments long enough for questions, answered in words instead of codes. The bet was that people would choose a practice that treated their nerves as seriously as their teeth.

Three years in, the studio runs on referrals from patients who mostly say some version of the same thing: I did not know it could feel like this.

What we practice, besides dentistry

Time is the treatment
Rushed dentistry is worse dentistry. Longer appointments mean better work, calmer patients, and problems caught while they are still small.
Honesty over volume
We will tell you when something can wait, when a cheaper option is just as good, and when doing nothing is a legitimate plan.
Comfort is clinical
Anxiety changes outcomes. Treating it seriously, with environment, pacing, and sedation when wanted, is part of the medicine.
Craft you can't see
The best dental work disappears. Margins you cannot find with your tongue, shades matched in natural light, bites that just feel right.

Of Asheville, for Asheville

The studio gives a percentage of every year to free dental days for neighbors without coverage, and Dr. Holt volunteers monthly with the WNC mobile dental clinic. Caring for this town is the whole point of being here.
